music monday: local natives

local natives

local natives are an indie rock band from the hipster paradise of silver lake, los angeles. yes. a place in which is has two cities. i'd describe their music as harmonizing vocal with overactive drumming. like if all of the drums on in their music had adhd.
i've seen them a couple times, but oh man. i wasn't expecting much the first time i saw them, but they BLEW ME AWAY. their live performance is so good. they're currently opening for the band, the national, so, go see them.
on a weird sidenote, my old friend knew them/was friends with them. so a couple coachellas ago, when they played, we, and half the band, watched passion pit and mgmt together. weird times.

videos

a cover of 'cecilia'

they've got too many good videos out, so i'm not gonna make a playlist for this music monday post.
