the people's key

i wore this outfit to see bright eyes in oakland yesterday. now hear me out. i really really love bright eyes. i have for many years. this was supposed to be one of their last tours, but they have since seemed to have changed their mind. and oh man. the crowd last night was ridiculous. it wasn't my crowd, so it made the band, not my bright eyes. i should've sat, should've gotten seats. it made conor's drunk political ramblings seem fake and not sincere. but don't get me wrong, the show itself was good. the songs were amazing. they played so many older songs, and hardly anything off of their new album. the last part was kind of disappointing, but it wasn't bad. it just made me really really sad. i may have outgrown this band.

onto the outfit!
i won this headband from esther from the sticks, a talented young lady who makes clothes and takes lovely photos of herself in them. and i wear this dress often. i try really hard not to, but i love it so. i guess it's better to love and wear something than let it sit in my closet unworn.
these minnetonkas have been my go to shoes for the last week because of my injured, possibly broken, at least fractured, toe. oh well.

outfit details:
cardigan: anthropologie
dress: fletcher by lyell/urban outfitters
belt: thrifted
tights: target
shoes: minnetonka
bag: vintage coach/thrifted

  1. Love the colour combo! The yellow really pops against the blue.
Just be careful with your toe, I have a friend who told me 'there's nothing they can do' and she was fine, but nevertheless I always think it's worth getting an xray (if you can), because sometimes if you break a certain part of the bone you can cut the blood supply to it, and the bone dies. I haven't heard of it being common in toes though.

  2. Sorry to hear the concert was disappointing! I really like Bright Eyes, and saw them once at a big concert hall, and I wish I had been able to see them in a smaller, more intimate venue. It sucks to think you've outgrown a band. I used to adore Bayside, and I went to one of their shows a few months ago, and the music was good, but I couldn't help but feel I had just moved on from them, and it was upsetting.
Anyway, I can see why you like to wear that dress often - it's adorable! And I love how it looks with the yellow cardigan :)

  3. I've been thinking about going to a Bright Eyes show in June, but I think I'd be in the same boat as you. I don't necessarily love the typical crowd, I don't like anything before "I'm Wide Awake It's Morning" (I know, I'm not a "real" fan), and Conor's opinions can still come across much like a loud teenager. Hmmm, I think I just talked myself out of it. ;)

Love your outfit! You are adorable. :)

We also have the same amazing coach purse. I love that thing! I wear it with everything, you can fit so much stuff in it.
